He “HAS” Overcome

For the last 30 days our church has been praying for individual, congregational, national, and global revival. It’s unfortunate that it’s taken a global pandemic to get us to this point of prayer, but here we are. Each day we are given several scriptures to look up and write down. Then we are to pray about what we have read and written down. I found that the final verse we were given on this final day was powerful. To be more specific, it was the final sentence of the final verse. To be precise it was one word in the final sentence, of the final verse, of the 30 days of prayer that opened my eyes.
“These things I have spoken to you that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I HAVE overcome the world.” (John16:33)

Jesus speaks about what has yet to be done as already completed, I HAVE. He has already overcome this world. He already has the victory. He has triumphed already. When I read one word it completely changed my perspective. I realized that I need to see this ongoing national crisis, this global pandemic through the words of Jesus. Jesus has already overcome the world. If He has already overcome why do we worry? If our King is already victorious, and He has already given us the outcome there is no need to fear.
